A flexible cup trap is the standard solution when the waste outlet in the wall does not align precisely with the trap on your basin or cloakroom basin. This version from Aloni features a Ø40 mm connection and a white finish, allowing it to blend seamlessly with most white installations in the bathroom or cloakroom.

Is this product right for your situation?
This trap is suitable for basins and cloakroom basins with a Ø40 mm waste outlet. The flexible pipe gives you flexibility during installation: if the wall outlet sits slightly too high, too low, or not quite directly opposite the trap outlet, you can compensate without additional adaptors or fittings. This also makes it particularly useful in renovation projects where the pipework is already fixed in place.
If your basin is fitted with a click-clack waste or a pop-up waste, first check that the outlet of that waste is also Ø40 mm. If you have a Ø32 mm connection, you will need a different trap. This cup trap is also not intended for use with showers or baths.
Installation and use
A common mistake is to overextend the flexible pipe in order to bridge a larger gap. The further the pipe is stretched, the smaller its internal diameter becomes, which reduces drainage speed and increases the risk of blockages. Keep the pipe as short and straight as possible, and always ensure a slight fall towards the wall outlet so that water does not flow back.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a cup trap and a bottle trap?
A cup trap has a compact, cylindrical shape and fits better beneath basins with limited space underneath. A bottle trap has a larger water seal and is slightly easier to clean, but takes up more height. For cloakroom basins in compact WC rooms, the cup trap is usually the better choice.
Is Ø40 mm the correct size for my basin?
Most standard basins and cloakroom basins have a Ø40 mm waste outlet. Check this on the technical drawing or data plate of your basin. Some designer basins or larger kitchen sinks use Ø50 mm; in that case, this trap will not fit without an additional reducer.
Can I use this trap with an existing tap or waste?
The trap connects to the waste outlet of the basin, not to the tap itself. As long as your basin waste is Ø40 mm, this trap will work with any tap or waste plug you already have. A waste is not included and must be purchased separately.
