How many watts do you need?
A common rule of thumb for electric radiators is 100W per m² for a standard-insulated room. Well-insulated new-build properties often require 60–80W per m², while older properties with single glazing can need 120–150W per m². For a room of 7 m², 700W is more than sufficient with reasonable insulation; for a larger or poorly insulated room, you would be better looking at a higher-output model.
| Room size | Indicative output |
|---|---|
| 5 m² | 400–600W |
| 7 m² | 600–800W |
| 10 m² | 800–1200W |
| 12 m² | 1000–1400W |
Is this product right for your situation?
This model is intended for rooms without a central heating connection or as comfort heating alongside an existing system. The IPX4 splash-proof rating makes it suitable for the bathroom, provided it is installed outside zones 1 and 2 (at least 60 cm from the shower or bath). The connection is on the right-hand side: before installation, check that the socket is on that side or is accessible with the 1200 mm supply cable. The oil filling ensures an even heat output and residual warmth after the thermostat cuts out, which helps limit consumption spikes.
This model is less suitable if you want to heat a large or poorly insulated room as the primary heat source: 700W is on the low side for that purpose. If you have a central heating system and want to extend it, a conventional filled radiator on the circuit is more efficient. Installation and use
The radiator is supplied with mounting hardware: adjust the brackets to the correct wall height so the radiator hangs level. A common mistake is leaving too little clearance above the unit — allow at least 10 cm at the top for free air circulation. The 1200 mm supply cable is long enough for most wall positions, but plan the socket location in advance so the cable does not run visibly along the wall. Use the thermostat to set a weekly programme; the open-window detection automatically switches the heating off when a sudden temperature drop is detected, preventing unnecessary energy use.
Frequently asked questions
How much electricity does a 700W electric radiator use?
At full load, this model consumes 0.7 kWh per hour. In practice, a programmable thermostat cycles the radiator up and down, so actual daily consumption is lower. Avoid running the radiator unnecessarily at the highest setting: a set weekly programme makes a noticeable difference to your energy bill.
Is this electric radiator suitable for the bathroom?
Yes, the IPX4 splash-proof rating makes it suitable for use in the bathroom. Install it outside the splash zones around the shower and bath, in accordance with current wiring regulations. Have the RCD protection on the circuit checked if you have any doubts about the electrical installation in the bathroom.
What is the difference between an oil-filled electric radiator and a convector heater?
A convector heats the air directly and responds quickly, but the warmth also dissipates quickly once it switches off. An oil-filled radiator such as this model takes longer to warm up, but continues to emit heat for a while after the thermostat cuts out — resulting in a calmer, more even indoor climate. For rooms that are in use throughout the day, an oil-filled model is generally more comfortable.
